When units no longer need their furniture or equipment, they may turn it in to the SIU Surplus Warehouse. The SIU Surplus team will evaluate the condition and determine if the equipment could be used by another unit or department on campus.
Units or departments looking for used furniture and equipment, may send an email to the Surplus team (surplus.property@siu.edu) to inquire about the current inventory. Please include the information below:
Check back regularly as inventory changes.
Surplus Property does not charge university departments for equipment, however moving charges will be assessed by the Facilities and Energy Management department and must be requested on a Request for Facility Services form.
Surplus is open for viewing by appointment only. Surplus is located at 204 W. Industrial Park Rd. (Next to Carbondale Brick and Block). To request an appointment please email Surplus Property.
All items will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis.
